Uzes itself has been designated one of the most important small medieval towns in France and the pedestrianized centre is a conservation area. With its towers, Cathedral and Duchy (castle) Uzes stands out proudly from the surrounding countryside.
It is a bustling market town, (markets being held on Wednesdays and Saturdays) with local life going on all year round. The Saturday market in the Place aux Herbes is a must for every visitor as it is the biggest in the area. Throughout the season there are countless festivals and exhibitions in the town
